Caption - Zambian Railways 3-foot 6-inch gauge 20A class 4-8-2 Garratt 735 is seen near Ndola with a heavy coal train in October 1970. the 20th class were the most powerful steam locos in the southern hemisphere. Zambia retained the bulk of the class (46 locos) when they took over operations in their country in 1964. The class lasted until the early 1970s when new diesels took over. During the oil crisis of 1979/80 four were briefly returned to service.
