12111 - British Railways Miscellany
Caption - Wolverhampton 'High Level' with a Virgin Trains Voyager on a Scotland to Birmingham service alongside Wrexham & Shropshire 67015 propelling a Marylebone to Wrexham service. This station was favourite haunt in the 1960s as it was the gateway to Western Region steam in the adjacent Low Level station. High level did have plenty of interest but it was much the same as seen on a daily basis at Stafford. However the green machines at Low Level held far greater attraction to spotters. Even when diesels started to appear the sight of brand new Western hydraulics on Paddington trains was still worth seeing.
