Caption - Birmingham Snow Hill with Chiltern Railways Turbostar 168215 waiting to depart for London Marylebone. Catching a train from the bottom of a multi-storey car park is not my idea of rail travel. As a kid I spend many happy hours watching trains at what was then one of Britain's great stations. Expresses to London were hourly and hauled by gleaming (mostly) ex-GWR Castle and King 4-6-0s often with 12 or more coaches. Between the expresses there was constant movement of trains, both freight and passenger, with no guarantee what type of loco might be seen. Today Snow Hill is probably efficient in terms of land use but lacks any character or interesting traffic.
