Colombo trains in monsoon rains

Sri Lanka - 2012

Sri Lankan Railways operate just under a thousand miles of route laid to 5 foot 6 inch gauge (1676 mm). The capital city, Colombo, is a focus point for these lines which radiate across the island. Colombo Fort station is located in the older part of the city and is the busiest railway centre in Sri Lanka with traffic dominated by passenger trains. Besides long distance trains including some overnight sleeper services there is also substantial commuter traffic within the greater Colombo area. This series of images were taken during some heavy monsoon rain with the railway continuing as normal.
