Trains at Luzern and Olten

Switzerland - 2011

Train watching in Switzerland is always rewarding especially at busy stations. Quite often you will still see shunting of passenger stock which is becoming rare in many countries. Luzern is a terminus with both standard and metre gauge trains with some trains reversing. On the other hand Olten is a through station and one of the busiest stations in Switzerland. It always amazes me how Swiss controllers manage to fit so many freights into the passenger timetable with some of them rattling through the station at relatively high speed!
