Trains at Arth Goldau - Gotthard route

Switzerland - 2011

Arth Goldau is a busy junction located on the north side of the Gotthard Tunnel on the busy artery from Switzerland and Germany south to Milan. In addition the scenic Sudostbahn line to St Gallen goes east from here. The SBB lines split to the north heading for Zurich, Zug and Luzern. As an added bonus there is also the metre gauge rack railway to the summit of the Rigi. This seems enough but there is also heavy freight traffic threaded through the intensive passenger service. How do the SBB controllers do it so well?
