Bolivian Railways Shay 508 at La Paz

Caption - Bolivian Railways (ENFFCC) metre gauge two truck Shay 508 (Lima 2933/1917) at La Paz in October 1974. This loco was originally FC La Paz Yungas #2 and worked on a railway with very steep gradients requiring the use of geared locomotives. The line was never finished and closed early. When Bolivian railways were nationalised #1 became 508 (and its sister Shay #1 became 507). With no suitable line work they were used to shunt the freight yards at La Paz.
