The MacArthurs were officially known as the USATC S118 class. 741 were built during WW2 to metre, three foot or three-foot six-inch gauges. The design was based on the Australian C17 class locos. At the end of the war, Thailand acquired a batch of these locos and they were used until the end of steam. Baldwin built 33 copies after the war for Indian Railways.
