Steam locos at Sumberharjo Sugar Mill, Java

Sumberharjo Sugar Mill was a hive of activity during this morning visit with 10 locos busy at work. The mill had a rather nice Mallet 0-4-4-0T working in the mill area plus a rare Alco 0-8-0T in the loco shed. A sign of the future was the Japanese built diesel. However road transport was to prevail and the introduction of diesels did not stop the railway systems being abandoned.
