A visit to busy South African Railways (SAR) De Aar steam loco depot was always something to be looked forward to with class 25 4-8-4s dominating. However there were always other locos of interest including on this occasion 12As and a 14R. In addition to the active steam locos there were many other historic engines that had been preserved plus others that would soon be sent for scrap.
