Steam locos at Ketanggungan Barat Sugar Mill, Java

This sugar mill was very busy during my visit. The 700mmm system extended far into the sugar cane fields. Many mills used bagasse for firing the locos but this mill used oil. However there were disadvantages in that the oil tank was located above the boiler and spillage meant that the rather nice yellow livery was soon covered in black streaks from leaks and spills. The system at this mill was connected to nearby Tersana Baru.
