The Bulgarian Railway (BDZ) system is focused on the country's capital, Sofia, which is probably the busiest station in the country. The main loco depot is situated at the eastern end of the station. Besides servicing locos operating passenger services and carriage shunting duties, there are some locos used on freight. In addition there are a number of 'preserved' steam locos scattered across the site together with the last two diesels of class 04.
