Maschen depot lies to the south of extensive marshalling yards that serve the Hamburg area. The ddpot provides locos for freight, trip and hump shunting needs in the area and can see over 100 locos stabled. This visit was on a Sunday morning which is not the quietest day of the week in Germany. 95 locos were noted.
