Trains at Kandy station in the sunshine

Sri Lanka - 2012

Kandy is a delightfully situated city a few hours by train from Sri Lanka's capital Colombo. Situated at 1500 feet above sea level, Kandy is a hill station and was favoured by the British as an escape from the heat of the plains. Certainly not a busy station the colonial past remains with an attractive building, original signal box and signalling plus some interesting traffic. These images reflect a short visit to the station and give a good idea of what can be seen.
