Morning trains at Sopron

Hungary - 2012

Sopron is the headquarters of GySEV, or Raaberbahn in German, a railway that links Austria and Hungary. Rolling stock has a mixed Hungarian-Austrian character with a distinctive yellow and green livery. Traffic through Sopron is mainly passenger, from local trains through to Intercity services, although some freight is in evidence. Motive power on view is predominantly GySEV owned although examples from Austrian and Hungarian State Railways are common. In addition locos from further afield such as Switzerland can also be seen. Like much of Hungary there is still plenty of shunting of passenger stock and two station pilots were kept busy reforming trains during this visit.
