Trains at Györ

Hungary - 2012

The station at Györ in western Hungary is located on the mainline from Budapest to Vienna. It forms the boundary between MAV (Hungarian State Railways) and the regional train company GYSEV (or Raaberbahn in German) which is managed jointly by Hungary and Austria. Traffic consists of a mixture of freight and passenger traffic most of which remain loco-hauled. GYSEV locos work through to Budapest and MAV locos work on GYSEV tracks to Sopron. MAV diesels monopolise the line to Celldemok. Some freight is the hands of open access operators including Floyd who have a number of ex-British Railways class 86 electrics.
