Ipswich is a busy station on the electrified main line from London Liverpool Street to Norwich with a frequent service of class 90 loco-hauled intercity trains. In addition there are DMUs and EMUs on local and semi fast services. Adjacent to the station is the Freightliner loco stabling point which adds some interest for enthusiasts. Freight traffic to and from Felixstowe container terminal is also relatively frequent with both diesel and electric hauled trains.
