Trains at Angermunde in winter

Germany - 2012

Angermunde lies on the mainline north from Berlin to Stralsund on the Baltic coast. It is also a junction for lines to Schwedt and Szczecin in Poland. The route is not that busy although there are some interesting freight workings and at the time of this visit a daily class 232 diesel worked train to Szczecin which has since been discontinued. A regular interval regional express loco-hauled service was the mainstay of traffic with additional branch trains and occasional expresses to Stralsund.
