Trains at Szczecin Glowny with light snow

Poland - 2012

A freezing cold day with light snow showers greeted my first visit to Poland for nearly 40 years! Much has changed including security which was so efficient in the 1970s that a railway photographer would last less than 5 minutes on a station platform! Today everything is much more relaxed and friendly. Sadly steam traction has disappeared in the intervening years although much remains of the infrastructure which has seen relatively minor modernisation. This visit to Szczecin Glowny station included a sample of what can be seen of Polish Railways together with visitors from across the border in Germany. The station is nor particularly busy but has enough action to keep your interest. Sadly all freight uses an avoiding line some distance to the south of the main station.
