Afternoon trains at Basel Bad station

Germany - 2011

Operated by Deutsche Bahn this station is the last outpost of the DB before reaching Basel Hb in Switzerland. The station has customs and passport control with Swiss territory on the front doorstep. Traffic at weekends is mainly passenger with DB dominating. Some SBB Basel s-bahn services also operate from the station. Freight traffic is in the hands of a variety of companies both private and state. BLS have a stabling point just north of the station and locos here work the trains of truck and trailers across Switzerland. Well worth a visit especially if stopping in Basel just to see a different perspective of rail operation.
