Trains at Munich Hauptbahnhof

Germany - 2011

Munich Hauptbahnhof is a busy terminus station in Bavaria. It is an important hub in the German ICE network of high speed trains and also sees a considerable number of loco-hauled Inter-city services. Regional and local services include loco-hauled stock with an increasing number of EMU and DMU services. One of the big attractions are the many services hauled by Class 218 B-B diesels with double-heading on the EuroCity route to Zurich as well as some rush hour regional services. In addition to trains operated by Deutsche Bahn, Austrian Railways diesel and electric locos also visit, the former providing pwer for some Inter-city trains as well as their Railjet services. Private companies also use the station including ALEX who use diesel and electric hauled sets and Bayerische Oberlandbahn who rely on a modern fleet of DMUs to maintain their routes. The extensive Munich S-bahn services also serve the station using the underground platforms.
