Trains at Roosendaal on the Belgian border

Netherlands - 2011

Roosendaal station lies on the old main line south from Rotterdam and Dordrecht to Antwerp in Belgium. The new high speed line lies further to the east. Roosendaal is also the southern terminus of trains on internal Dutch services. There are branch lines west to Vlissingen and east to Breda. On normal days there is a steady flow of freight but due to a problem on the main line in Belgium all services were heavily delayed. International traffic on the route is once an hour in each direction with trains originating in Amsterdam and continuing south to Brussels Midi. One of the main reasons of the visit was to see some of Plan V Mat 64 2-car emus in action. Now the oldest emus in Holland they were working the service to Vlissingen.
