South Devon Railway

United Kingdom - 2010

The South Devon Railway (formerly the Dart Valley Railway) operates the line from Totnes to Buckfastleigh in Devon. The line uses a variety of motive power with steam usually dominant together with some diesel locos and DMUs. These images were taken during the Easter Gala weekend. This included the visit by 70013 "Oliver Cromwell" and LMS Black Five 44871 after they had worked the "Royal Duchy" from Exeter to Penzance. My first visit to this line was in the summer 1969 shortly after it had been reopened as a heritage railway. Previous to that I had watched trains here in 1959 whilst on the way to Cornwall with my parents.
