Trains at Paris Austerlitz Station

France - 2011

Austerlitz is one of the less busy Paris stations situated on the west bank of the Seine. Opened in 1840 by the Paris Orleans Railway, trains serve Orleans, Limoges, Brive and Tours. What it lacks in traffic it more than makes up for by the lack of multiple units with most trains in the mainline part of the station loco-hauled. Teoz and Corail services are in the hands of the modern BB 26000 class built between 1988 and 1998. Some longer distances are hauled by BB 7200 which were delivered from 1976 through to 1985. Finally some empty stock workings are in the hands of the more elderly BB 8500s which were introduced to service over a decade starting in 1964. Note that all traffic here is 1500V d.c.
