Western Railway (India) metre gauge steam

India - 1978

The steam locos of India's Western Railway looked smart with their dark red trim. This gallery was taken during a visit to the line between Ahmadabad and Mahesana. Traffic was in the hands of YL, YB, B and B2 classes of loco. One objective of the visit was to see the pre-war 4-6-0s at work and this was achieved easily during the visit. Some of the trains they hauled were impressive - this was main line metre gauge at its best.
