Coonor steam loco depot

This gallery covers the steam operated railway from Mettupalayam to Ooty. This rack railway uses X class 0-8-2Ts which are maintained at the large loco depot at Coonor at the top of the rack section. The maintenance of these compound engines is complex and the staff at Coonor shed have very special knowledge that enables these locos to continue working.
