Nancha Steam Loco Depot

China - 1986

Nancha was a typical steam loco shed in Heilongjiang Province in northern China. Operating a mixture of classes from Pacifics to 2-8-2s the shed also provided engines for banking heavy trains on the steeply graded mainline. Like most Chinese Railways steam loco depots, the facilities were efficient and quite modern, although there were always a few reminders of the past such as a hrose drawn cart and a wonderful steam crane.
