Narrow gauge steam Kohat to Thal

Pakistan - 1989

The 2ft 6in gauge lines of Pakistan Railways retained some steam operation into the 1990s. The line from Kohat to Thal traversed some wonderful scenery and all trains were in the hands of ZB class 2-6-2 locos. Since closure the line has been lifted and apparently very little evidence of its existence remains. In 1989 there were some local security problems hence the leading freight wagon to help protect the train from explosives hidden under the track.
