Bulawayo loco shed

Zimbabwe - 1980

A visit to Bulawayo shed in the early 1980's always yielded a remarkable array of National Railways of Zimbabwe Beyer-Garratt articulated locos being prepared for duty including 14A, 15th, 16th & 20th Classes. These pictures were taken one afternoon in March 1980 with locos on nearby shunting duties also appearing in this series of images. Bulawayo shed had a large mechanised coaling stage and a massive turntable capable of carrying the longest locos in the fleet, namely the 20th class garratts. In addition a few non-articulated 4-8-2s were in use together with some older classes on the scrap line.
