Caption - Ex-SAR Cape gauge GF class 4-6-2+2-6-4 Garratt 2378 about to bank a loaded coal train at the Enyati Railway in May 1982. 65 were built in 1927 and 1928 by Hanomag, Henschel and Maffei. 2378 was one of the first batch (Hanomag 10520/27). The class remained intact until 1972 and at that time were principally used in Natal. By 1979 they had all been withdrawn by SAR. Twelve were used on the Enyati Railway and lasted into the mid-1980s.
