SAR GB class Garratt 2166 at Matkop
Caption - South African Railways (SAR) Cape Gauge GB class 2-6-2+2-6-2 Garratt 2166 at Matkop with an enthusiast's special in May 1992. 2166 was the prototype of the class and delivered from Beyer Peacock in 1921 and was joined by a further 6 locos in 1924. Withdrawn from service in 1967 the GB's spent some of their life on the Barkly East branch with its famous reversals. Today 2166 resides in the Outeniqua Transport Museum.
