Caption - British Railways (BR) Standard class 4 2-6-4T 80083 at Eastleigh loco shed in 1964. After nationalisation of British Railways in 1948 new steam construction was based on a series of standard locomotives. 155 of these 2-6-4T's were built between 1951 and 1956 and they served across the UK on commuter services with a top speed of 75 mph (120 kph). The last nine were taken out of service on 9th July 1967. Fifteen survive with a few in working condition.
