Caption - South African Railways (SAR) Cape gauge class 2-8-2 938 "Gracie" at De Aar in July 1972. The 11 class was introduced in 1904 with 36 locos being built by North British. The class lasted in SAR service until 1975 although 15 were sold to industrial railways in coal and gold mines, which extended their lives. "Gracie" was the shed pet at De Aar in 1972 and this tradition was maintained until the end of steam.
