Caption - South African Railways (SAR) 3-foot 6-inch gauge GMA class 4-8-2+2-8-4 Garratt 4051 with the Pretoria to Mosselbaai passenger leaving Rosmead on the northern side of the Lootsberg Pass in July 1979. Unusually the loco is working the 'right way' round as mostly the GMA's worked bunker first. 4051 was the first of the class to be put into service in 1954 and was built by Henschel (Germany) under licence from Beyer Peacock and Company.
