Caption - South African Railways (SAR) GMA/M class 4-8-2+2-8-4 Garratt 4105 with 1515 Port Elizabeth to Cape Town passenger at Blossoms June 1978. 4105 was one of the 12 built by North British under sub-contract from Beyer Peacock with works number 27697 of 1956. In total 120 GMA's were built between 1953 and 1958. It is interesting to note that this train had been steam hauled from Port Elizabeth with a GMA working as far as Kliplaat where a 19D 4-8-2 took over to Oudsthoorn where this GMA took charge for the journey over the Montagu Pass to Mossel Bay.
