Pakistan Railways HGS class 2-8-0 no.2224 near the Khojak Pass
Caption - Pakistan Railways HGS class 2-8-0 no.2224 is seen hauling a Chaman (on the Afghan border) to Quetta passenger through the arid terrain near the Khojak Pass in March 1983.The HGS class (Heavy Goods) 2-8-0's were BESA designed locos and part of a standardisation programme for Indian Railways locomotives. In Pakistan the HGS worked until the end of steam and today a few examples are used for steam hauled special trains.
