Caption - Northern Railway (India) WP/P pacific 7203 at Mughalsarai loco shed in February 1968. One of the 16 prototypes built by Baldwin (USA) in 1947, 7203 was already twenty years when the photo was taken. After the success of the prototype batch a further 739 WPs saw service across the Indian railway system. The class remained intact until 1980 and the class lasted in the 1990s. Their long life proved the design and their suitability for traffic in India.
