Sri Lankan Railways class V2 2-foot 6-inch gauge Sentinel railcar 331 at Narahenpita
Caption - Sri Lankan Railways class V2 2-foot 6-inch gauge Sentinel railcar 331 at Narahenpita in south-eastern suburbs of Colombo in January 1992. This steam railcar was restored for use on enthusiasts special trains. Ceylon Government Railways operated 6 steam railcars on the 2-foot 6-inch gauge Kelani Valley system which had 160 km of route. CGR had 30 Sentinel railcars plus 3 Clayton railcars. 27 wre 5-foot 6-inch gauge examples. The surviving narrow gauge railcars are currently in poor condition and there is a project underway to return one to the UK for restoration.
