Caption - South African Railways (SAR) GCA class 2-6-2 Garratt no.2607 at Port Shepstone loco shed in April 1970. Krupp built thirty-nine of these locos in 1927 and 1928 and they lasted until 1975 when the class was withdrawn from service. At the time of this image the Natal South Coast line to Port Shepstone was where the first batch of 13 GCAs worked being based at Greyville in Durban. Port Shepstone was one of the few depots where 3-foot 6-inch and 2-foot gauge Garratts could be seen together.
