Caption - SAR class 11 2-8-2 no. 937 at Mafikeng in 1971. Thirty-six of these locos were built by North British in Glasgow in 1904. Originally used between Witbank and Germiston, they were replaced by Mallets and relegated to shunting and trip work. Most were transferred to Kimberley and Port Elizabeth until withdrawal in 1975. Some members of the class continued to be used on industrial railways in the goldfields and coalfields where they lasted into the 1990s.
