British Railways A3 class 4-6-2 60096 "Papyrus" at Dundee
Caption - British Railways A3 class 4-6-2 60096 "Papyrus" at Dundee loco shed in 1960. There were 78 A3s including 60103 "Flying Scotsman". The class worked the East Coast Mainline from London Kings Cross to Edinburgh via Doncaster, York, and Newcastle. However, they saw use on other mainlines too. Most of the class were named after thoroughbred racehorses as was the case for 60096. Built in March 1929 60096 was withdrawn from service in September 1963.
