Caption - Indian Railways (Southern Railway) metre gauge X class 0-8-2T rack tank 37391 (SLM 4071/1952) is seen at Coonor loco shed in April 1968. At this time the locos were kept in immaculate condition and worked the full length of the railway including the adhesion section from Coonor to Ooty. This loco is still in use on the line from Mettupalayam to Ootacamund and has been converted to oil firing and is limited to working the rack section up to Coonor. Sadly, standards of cleanliness have declined considerably.
