Caption - South African Railways (SAR) class 19D 4-8-2 no.2722 heads the 0600hrs freight from Sterkstroom to Dordrecht, which was part way up the long branch to Maclear. The date is 12th October 1979, a time of the year when it was possible to photograph this train on the initial uphill section from Sterkstroom. This morning had wonderful bright early light with relatively cool air adding to the effects of the exhaust. Wonderful memories.
