Caption - South African Railways (SAR) class 19D 3334 with a long Vanderbilt tender leaves Oudtshoorn with the Cape Town to Port Elizabeth passenger in October 1979 having just replaced GMAM class Garratt 4140 which had been in charge of the train from Mosselbaai. Rain had just cleared and luckily the sun burst through the clouds just as the train departed. The 19D would take the train through to Kliplaat where another GMA would take over for the final section of the journey to Port Elizabeth with arrival the following morning.
