Caption - Ponferrada Villablino Railway (PV) Engerth articulated 2-6+4 no.31 waits in Paramo station with the daily 'Correos' passenger train in May 1978. The railway's principal source of income was hauling coal and at the time of this visit passengers were a rare commodity with the service being withdrawn in 1980. This form of articulation transferred some of the weight of the tender onto the driving wheels thereby improving adhesion. A section of the line has been preserved.
