Caption - Brazilian EFDCT Dona Teresa Cristina no.312 a metre-gauge Baldwin built 2-10-4 from 1947 at Imbituba in 1978. With massive grates and mechanical stokers they were free-steaming working trains between Tubarão to Imbituba. This loco suffered a boiler explosion in 1981, killing the three footplate crew. The rest of the class were examined and had their boiler pressure reduced. With much reduced power they were confined to shunting duties and withdrawn from service by 1986. Three of the 2-10-4's survive in Brazil - 300 and 302 'preserved' and 310 dumped at Tubarão the other 10 were scrapped in the 1990's.
