Caption - As the sun goes down, a pair of South African Railways (SAR) class 25 4-8-4s head a heavy coal train southbound near Modderrivier between Kimberley and De Aar. This train was always double headed. 3452 "Maria" is leading 3503 "Taina" on 22nd October 1979. The photo shows the grade on this section of immaculate track. The 25s of course were masters of the job even on uphill sections.
