De Aar Loco Shed with super-shine steam locos

De Aar was still an important steam depot well into the 1980s supplying locos for the De Aar to Kimberley double track mainline. Most of the steam hauled traffic was freight with only a few passenger workings still steam hauled. Traction for the section was supplied by both De Aar and Kimberly depots. Some of the locos were kept in immaculate condition including two locos featured in this set of images which were taken just after sunrise.
