Metre gauge steam Regua to Chaves

Portugal - 1977

This gallery focuses on the Portuguese metre gauge line from Regua in the Douro Valley to Chaves. By 1977 the locos had been given computerised numbers and the metre gauge trains no longer connected with steam worked trains in the valley as modern diesels had arrived for broad gauge services. Traffic on the Chaves line was still quite busy and the mixed trains alsways seemed to be well loaded.
