Lunchtime trains at Doncaster

United Kingdom - 2012

These pictures were taken on Friday 29th June 2012 when there was significant disruption north of Newcastle with the line closed near Berwick due to a landslide, which was the result of heavy rain. Doncaster has been a favourite station for many years having spend considerable time there in the early 1970s. Even today a few hours spent on the platforms will reward you with a good variety of passenger and freight trains worked by a number of operators. Luckily the East Coast main line also sees some loco-hauled expresses in the hands on the Class 91 electrics. HSTs are also common with examples form East Coast and Grand Central to be seen. The Adelante dmu's are also common working for both Grand Central and First Hull Trains. In addition Northern Trains operate a variety of dmu's and emu's with West Midlands Trains appearing every few hours through the day. The final operator is Trans Pennine Express with examples of classes 170 and 185 the usual 'power'. Freight is unpredictable but it can be very busy at times.
